A8900 is a module which can support GSM/GPRS and provide the GPS information service. For GSM/GPRS part, it can be used in any GSM network in the world; it is a quad-band (GSM850/EGSM900/DCS1800/PCS1900) GSM/GPRS module, can support GPRS multi-slot class 12 and supports the GPRS coding schemes CS-1, CS-2, CS-3 and CS-4.
At the same time, the module A8900 can support the GPS function. Its GPS can support 56 channels, the Sensitivity of Tracking & Navigation is -155 dBm, and its Time-To-First-Fix of Cold Start is 37s, Hot Start is 1s.
With surface mounted technology, the low profile and small size of LCC package makes A8900 easily embedded into the low-volume applications and ensures the reliable connectivity with the applications. This kind of package is ideally suited for large-scale manufacturing which has the strict requirements for cost and efficiency.
Built-in FOTA technology allows A8900 to the firmware remotely. Additional features such as integrated TCP/IP protocol stack, serial multiplexer and enhanced AT commands guarantee fast and reliable transmission of GPS information and GPRS data, voice, SMS via GSM/GPRS network and extend the functionality of the application without adding cost.
Its tiny size (35 × 25 × 2.7mm) and ultra low power consumption makes A8900 a very cost effective and feature-rich platform that is quite suitable for a wide range of M2M applications such as AMR, AVL and Personal Tracking and many other M2M applications.
